Cycle Carlisle aims to make cycling in Carlisle safe, convenient and popular. We hope to encourage people to use cycling as part of their normal daily transport and turn Carlisle into a progressive cycle-friendly City.

This manifesto has been drawn up by members of "Cycle Carlisle" to record the improvements that we wish to see for cycling in Carlisle. It is designed to reflect the wishes of all who cycle in Carlisle, and especially those who wish to cycle more. Read more

Cycle Carlisle aim to organise events that promote cycling throughout the city. Past events have included mass bike rides and a mini cycle festival in the centre of Carlisle last year. There are also regular rides out into the surrounding countryside as well as various campaigns, meetings and film screenings.

An invitation to Cycle Carlisle’s next social ride… THIS SUNDAY coming to celebrate World Car Free Day !

…where we turn out to celebrate cycling and promote the benefits of cycling to the people of Carlisle. The more people that attend, the more we will promote cycling as a normal and healthy means of transport.

When: Sunday 22nd September (a day later than normal to celebrate World Car Free Day).

Time: 12:00

Meeting Point: Outside Carlisle Railway Station (Court Square side)

Message: “Cycling for a healthier city / Cycling for a cleaner city / Cycling for World Car Free Day”

As it’s a special ride on a special day we will be going slightly further afield to explore some of the off road routes through Carlisle’s parks with a refreshment stop on the way.

SAVE THE DATE…. The next Cycle Carlisle Social Ride is moving from the 3rd Saturday, to SUNDAY 22 September to celebrate WORLD Car Free Day. Meeting at 12 noon at Carlisle Railway Station…. our route will include some of the traffic free cycleways away from the city centre — More details to follow, but for now SAVE THE DATE !!!
